Entity #012 - "LULWUT Decal"
Description
Entity #012, also known as thne LULWUT Decal, is a Decal that was uploaded to the Public Marketplace on Febuary 20th, 2015. Sightings from this have spanned all the way back to circa 2013, but the decal was made way later, which is odd.
Behavior
When placed inside a game, the LULWUT Decal doesn’t behave like a normal static image. At first, it displays a blurry, poorly lit room resembling an empty, windowless basement. The lighting subtly shifts over time, and small visual artifacts—like scanlines, pixel bleeding, and grain—appear, making the decal resemble an old security feed.
After approximately five minutes of being observed, the image within the decal begins to change. The lighting in the room seems to flicker, and what appears to be a tall, shadowy figure occasionally becomes visible in the background. These sightings are brief, lasting only a few frames at most, and are often missed if the player isn’t directly watching the decal.
Some players claim that the figure stares at them when it appears, while others report distorted audio or whispering sounds playing faintly when near the decal, though the source of these sounds cannot be found in the game’s assets. Attempts to record the decal's changes often fail, recordings show only the default static image, even during confirmed appearance events.
The decal, due to reports to Roblox, has been deleted, and no reuploads have been seen past the original deletion.
Notable Incidents
- March 2016 - "Studio Lockout": A developer reported that every time they opened their game, the LULWUT Decal would be added to the StarterGui folder. Removing it did nothing—it would return each time the project was reopened. The issue stopped after the entire place was deleted and rebuilt from scratch.
- October 2017 - "Live Feed Glitch": During a livestream, viewers pointed out that the decal in the game seemed to be showing something moving behind the player character—despite nothing being present in-game. A screen capture showed a shadowy shape blinking in and out of the decal’s frame. However, said capture is lost.
- January 2018 - "Unlisted Join": A private test server using the decal experienced a sudden drop in framerate. Server logs revealed an unlisted user had joined the game—despite it being locked and having no access code distributed.
